How can water be so dangerous to a computer, now I have to replace the motherboard for my spare computer. Damn Machine!!!

water is a conductor.... :-)
some IC's only need 3.3 volts (or less) and some need 5 volts or more. Water can bridge those IC's together...causing up to 15 volts to pass into 3.3v chips.
